Exploring Abstract Art

Presenter: Hedy Buzan

Local artist Hedy Buzan will present a history of Abstraction from Post-Impressionism to Post-Modernism. She will share how Cezanne, new technologies of the Twentieth Century, and individual proclivities created multiple new ways of making images.

We will look at a wide range of artists including Picasso, Matisse, Klee, deKooning and less familiar artists. You will also learn to look at a painting in terms of line, shape, value, texture, space, and color.

At the end of class each participant can try their hand at making an Abstract mini magnet.

Hedy Buzan is a local Laguna Beach artist. In addition to teaching for over twenty years at Saddleback Community College she has exhibited her prints, drawings and paintings at the Festival of Arts and the Sawdust Festival.
