Conversational Spanish - Beginning

Note: This class is currently being offered in-person at the Susi Q Senior Center. There are no refunds. Space limited to 24 participants.

Instructor: Jerry Curtin

This is a 10-week in-person class, a continuation of the class aimed at new students of Spanish, or those who need a refresher. Learn some of the basics, including use of the past tenses of verbs, as well as building basic vocabulary. The course will focus on reading, writing, and listening in Spanish, with particular attention paid to speaking.

We will emphasize verbal practice. Class will be conducted in English and Spanish, with a goal to progress to all-Spanish sessions as the term progresses.

The course will be based on concepts from Exploraciones, Second Edition.

About Jerry

Jerry Curtin is a 32-year resident of Laguna Beach, and is honored to be a member of the Laguna Beach Seniors board of directors.  A lifelong student of Spanish and English, Jerry’s B.A. was in Spanish and American History. After several years of working and teaching high school English, Jerry went back to law school, and slogged through the field of corporate law for 27 years until recently-retiring. He’s very much looking forward to offering a class that provides a good foundation in real-world Spanish – and having some fun while we’re doing it!
