Triage, Choppers and Empty Beds: A Medic’s Vietnam

Drawing from firsthand experience, Joliet will reflect on life inside a combat hospital during the later years of the Vietnam War, including mass-casualty events, battlefield triage, helicopter medevacs and the growing presence of empty beds as responsibility shifted to the Army of the Republic of Vietnam in 1972. He will also share observations formed during his return visit to Vietnam in 2014, offering perspective on the long-term human and economic consequences of the conflict.
